Greg`s Pump & Welding Service

Sorry in advance that this one is a bit long. I was out of town when our pressure tank went on our house( we're on a well) . My wife called Greg's pump and welding service. He came out and bypassed the tank so we had water and ordered the new tank. I was back home by the time the new tank showed up. He arrived in the morning and I helped him install it in our crawlspace (packed the new tank in, haul the old one out, handed him tools, ect). When we were done I asked him how much roughly I owed him. His reply was " around $1300". Then we got the invoice pictured below. It was 59% above his original number. I asked him why and his answer was more or less " because it's more". I asked him repeatedly to break the invoice down. Example: Tank:$$$ Overload switch:$$$ Miscellaneous fittings ect:$$$ His reply was " if I break it down, I'm going to have to charge you more tax and I'll double the bill". He texted a picture of the invoice and wanted to be paid via email transfer. That seemed extra sketchy and I wasn't doing that without a receipt. For the record I understand that an estimate is just that. But I got the price after the work was done and the tank was installed there were no big surprises. I also understand that prices fluctuate right now and if the bill was $1600 to $1700 I wouldn't have batted an eye. But 59% over with no real reason just seems like a scam. At this point, if something does go wrong with the tank in the next year I doubt I'd even call him to do the work for free under warranty.
